Economist who thinks in systems.Poet who feels in words.Novelist who builds from silence. The same person.

Born in Catalonia in 1976. Catalan is the language she dreams in; four others are the ones she works in.

She trained in economics and spent two decades inside the machinery of finance and operations, mapping how processes move and where they fail. It was never a detour. Every system has a grammar, and every grammar has a place where it breaks.

Her first novel began in the margins of class notebooks, written out of boredom while someone at the front of the room explained something else. The habit stayed. Writing is what happens when attention refuses to be where it is told.

Iona-Teresa Riera

El cor negre dels ulls clars

Poetry, 2012. Written in Catalan.

Thirty-two poems in four parts. Her first published collection: a black heart behind pale eyes, and the distance between what is seen and what is kept.

Never Told Myself

Novel, in progress.

Written to be read the way a film is watched: in cuts. What the narrator never said aloud, not even to herself.

The work moves in three phases. First, saturation: reading, collecting, letting too much in. Then the making, fast and physical, before the mind can intervene. Only afterwards, interpretation. Understanding what was made, not deciding it in advance.

As Miss Innack she paints. Same hand, a different silence.

The word burns. It does not decorate.
